Research

Dr. Arup Das Lab

The focus of my laboratory is on the molecular mechanisms that play an important role in the pathogenesis and development of different phenotypes of human diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Dusanka Deretic Lab

Our research focuses on the understanding of the molecular mechanisms by which mutations in rhodopsin, and in genes that regulate its trafficking, lead to retinal diseases.

Ophthalmology Studies

The UNM Ophthalmology Division is engaged in basic science as well as clinical research in ophthalmology and visual sciences.

DRGen Study

The DRGen Study (Diabetic Retinopathy Genomics Study), a multi-center, multi-ethnic study will use the next generation technology to understand the genetic mechanisms of diabetic retinopathy - one of the leading causes of blindness in the world.
